It’s been a little bit less than a week since Larian Studios released Patch #7 for Baldur’s Gate 3, and players may have found a way to potentially create their own homebrew (original) stories using the game’s newly added Toolkit.(Via Rock Paper Shotgun), we know that a modder known as Siegfre was able to dig a little deeper into the game files and discovered a way to use the Toolkit to its full potential by creating the BG3 Toolkit Unlocked. According to the description of the mod, this “unlocks the disabled features and enables write permissions for the BG3 Toolkit.” These include “level editing, save editing, and more.”

Is Astro, the star of Astro’s Playroom and Astro Bot, a Sony mascot? Nicolas Doucet isn’t so sure. While the soft-spoken head of Team Asobi recognizes that the plucky little robot has the makings of a marquee character, and while it’s become the face of the studio and even graces its logo, he also doesn’t think it’s his or the studio’s place to say. To hear him tell it, a mascot is grown organically out of affection from fans, not a status assigned by corporate masters. On a recent trip to Team Asobi’s studio in Japan, we got an up-close look at how Astro came to be and the design philosophy that drives the studio’s playful, polished little automaton.

Birth of a Baby Robot

It wasn’t long ago that Team Asobi’s work wasn’t meant to be seen directly by consumers at all. It was an internal R&D studio under the umbrella of Sony’s Japan Studio, composed mostly of ex-developers, and devoted to developing tools and techniques for other Sony studios. It didn’t have any grand ambitions to break into game development, but in hindsight, Doucet said the turn toward public development was probably inevitable.”We were asked to put some of our tech demos, at the time it was Pl…

Astro Bot is a gorgeous game, but unlike a lot of PlayStation first-party games, it doesn’t seem to have a photo mode. Well, that’s because it’s a secret. You can use Astro Bot’s photo mode once you’ve met its unlock requirements, and in this guide we’ll walk you through how to do just that.

Astro Bot photo mode

As you explore Astro Bot’s dozens of levels, you’ll soon discover hidden puzzle pieces. Most levels are hiding three in total, and the Crash Site hub world is hiding 11 more around the map. Even more can sometimes be seen floating around the space map overworld. To put it simply, Astro Bot’s photo mode can be unlocked once you’ve collected a great number of these, which will come around the midway point in the game, depending on how diligently you chase down secret puzzle pieces. This is because puzzle pieces unlock various attractions and shops in the Crash Site. The first of them is the gacha machine, a crane game that takes your coins and trades you collectibles, costumes, and ship paint jobs.

NBA 2K25 has only been out for a couple of days for those who preordered the game, and players have already discovered a hilarious bug that clones users’ MyPlayer so they can either team up with themselves or play against themAs the name suggests, MyPlayer is a mode in which users create an original basketball player and play out their career. Shortly after this bug was discovered, some players took to Reddit (via IGN) to show other players what had happened to them. This bug seems to be triggered when players pick a team different from the one they played during an intro sequence in MyCareer Since this bug was discovered, some players decided to just have fun with it and post highlight clips of themselves running up and down the court, praising themselves. One Reddit user uploaded a clip titled “Great Hustle from All 3 of Me,” in which their MyPlayers went in for an alley-oop.

A Destiny mobile game is reportedly in development over at NetEase under the name Destiny Rising, and it could be announced soon. This rumor originally came from Twitter user Kurakasis, who said that Destiny Rising hasn’t been canceled despite developer Bungie’s recent layoffs. Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb has corroborated this rumor over on Threads, saying that the game will reportedly have Hero characters instead of having players create their own characters. However, it seemingly will still retain the same kind of feeling of playing Destiny on console or PC, but just on mobile.Last month, Bloomberg reported that in early 2022 when Sony purchased Bungie, the developer went ahead and hired new employees to work on several incubation projects, including mobile versions of Destiny. It’s possible that Destiny Rising is one of those. However, a Destiny spin-off, codenamed Payback, was reportedly canceled. Internally, Bungie referred to it as “the next Destiny” instead of “Destiny 3.”When 17% of Bungie employees were let go from the recent restructuring, Destiny veterans including executive creative director Luke Smith and vice president Mark Noseworthy also departed. However, it was later c…

Saber Interactive’s highly anticipated Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 launches today for those who paid for the Gold or Ultra edition, and next week for those who bought the standard version. Space Marines 2 supports cross-play, with some limitations, and cross-save options for those who opt in. Here’s how it works.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Cross-Play

A community update by Focus Entertainment details how cross-play works. In a nutshell, full cross-play will be supported on day one for all platforms. Both PC and console players will be able to join one another in a lobby whenever they want to play the campaign or PvE missions. There are some limits to PvP, which should help keep things competitive. Those playing on PC will only be able to play against other PC players, while those on console will only be able to play against other console players. If players want to game with people only on the same platform as them, they can also turn off cross-play at any given moment.

Matt Smith (House of the Dragon, The Crown) has voiced strong opinions against the use of trigger warnings in entertainment. A trigger warning is used to inform people that what they are about to consume–movies, TV shows, music, books, classes, etc.–may contain content that could prompt a distressing response. In an interview with The Times of London, Smith criticized the practice, arguing that it undermines the integrity of storytelling by pre-emptively warning audiences about potentially upsetting content.”Too much policing of stories and being afraid to bring them out because a climate is a certain way is a shame. I’m not sure I’m on board with trigger warnings,” Smith said. He expressed concern that such warnings could dilute the impact of art, noting, “It’s OK to feel uncomfortable or provoked while looking at a painting or watching a play, but I worry everything’s being dialed and dumbed down. We’re telling audiences they’re going to be scared before they’ve watched something.”Smith, who recently starred in the British horror film Starve Acre, reflected on his own formative experiences watching films like Slither, Basic Instinct, and Friday the 13th at a young age. While he…

Remember Wordle? The daily word puzzle mobile game was a massive hit in 2021 and 2022, dominating Twitter feeds with players’ viral scorecards and inviting the whole world to try to guess the same word of the day, every day. The game grew so big it was eventually purchased by the New York Times and today helps fill out the newspaper’s popular New York Times Games app.I didn’t expect to find Wordle in Star Wars Outlaws, but when it showed up as a hacking minigame, I felt it was a clever reinvention of the puzzle game that many continue to play each day with their morning coffee, during a lunch break, or just before they tuck into bed for the night. Unfortunately, like a lot of open-world games, Outlaws soon ruins its novel idea by cramming it into every corner of its world and missing the point of the game in the first place.
